About Karen Romine

I am a woman after God's own heart. I want to see, feel, think and do like Him. I have a heart made for worshipping Him, and a voice created to sing His praises. He has gifted me in many areas, and given me many abilities in order to bring glory to Him. I am a Worshipper, a Leader, a Musician, a teacher, a Sister, an Aunt, and a Friend. What else is there to know? Some of my favorite quotes are: I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. Phil. 4:13 (The Message) 1-4If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. 5-8Think of yourselves the way Christ Jesus thought of himself. He had equal status with God but didn't think so much of himself that he had to cling to the advantages of that status no matter what. Not at all. When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn't claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion. 9-11Because of that obedience, God lifted him high and honored him far beyond anyone or anything, ever, so that all created beings in heaven and on earth—even those long ago dead and buried—will bow in worship before this Jesus Christ, and call out in praise that he is the Master of all, to the glorious honor of God the Father. Phil 2:1-11 (The Message) Romans 8:28 James 1:5 Romans 12:1-2 Habakkuk 2:3 "Blessed is he who has learned to admire but not envy, to follow but not imitate, to praise but not flatter, and to lead but not manipulate." ~ William Arthur Ward ~ "Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail." ~ Confucius ~ "Those who do not know how to weep with their whole heart don't know how to laugh either." ~ Golda Meir ~ "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr. ~

Weight Loss Wednesday 7-27-11

Welcome back to the newest Weight Loss Wednesday!  And guess what??  I’m getting the hang of this whole video/editing/uploading thing…FINALLY!  So this is actually going to go live on Wednesday!  Aren’t you proud?  I know you are.  I’m proud of myself.

Well, my friends – I’m getting ready to start the audition process again for Biggest Loser’s Season 13.  Open casting calls start this weekend and I am totally PSYCHED!  I’ve hit a bit of a plateau…well, not really a plateau, more like a really slightly sloping hill.  I’m still losing, but it’s slower than I would like.  But I’m about to kick it in the booty by starting the reboot entry program again which consists of juicing, vegetables and fruits.  That really seems to work for me…and the best part?  I really like the taste of the food.  I don’t feel deprived and I feel so good as far as my health is concerned.

I’ll be heading to the Hard Rock Atlanta on August 6th for my first open casting call.  My sister, Kimberly and I are going together.  We will have a great time in line and get to meet lots of other people who are looking to get healthy, too.  These events are always a lot of fun.  It’s a unique opportunity to make new friends while having a great time. You don’t know a good time until you hang out with a group of people like that.  A couple of weeks later, I’ll be doing it all over again in Orlando.

Let me just take a minute to thank you all for being so positive and supportive of me through all of this.  I have to say that I have not had a SINGLE negative comment or snide remark since I started with the audition video for Season 12.  If you have ever seen any other videos on YouTube, you will know that people are cruel with their commentary. I am genuinely amazed that I haven’t had to deal with any of that.  What a blessing.

So, without further adieu…here it is:

CORRECTION — Brittany Aberle was NOT on Biggest Loser Season 10.  She was on Season 5.  I blame it on the juice!

Weight Loss Wednesday 7-13-11

On the continuing trek toward better health, fitness and weight loss, Karen Romine brings you the latest installment of Sweet-Tea-Theology’s Weight Loss Wednesdays. If you’re struggling, too – join in the conversation. If you’re looking to be inspired, you might find it here. Let’s battle the bulge together and beat obesity into submission!

Weight Loss Wednesday – The Workout Edition

By the time this is all edited and uploaded, Weight Loss Wednesday will be Thursday, but I thought I would take you on a brief tour of some of my workout activities as I continue to whittle my frame into submission.  I filmed this at Shapes Fitness of South Tampa using my HTC Evo, and edited the final product with Windows Movie Maker.  I’ve been on the elliptical a few more times since I recorded this session.  My legs feel like jelly when I get done, but it feels pretty good to know that my muscles are responding to the torture exercise.  Who would have thought that exercise could be so much fun??  Certainly not me!  But I am really liking my time in the gym.  I might just become a gymaholic!  I wonder if there’s a 12-step program for that?

I am really encouraged by all the support and comments that I have been getting here and on Facebook.  I have always wanted to inspire people, but I would have NEVER thought that I could inspire others to work out!  Thank you for telling me that my efforts to be a better, healthier person are making a difference for you, too!  I am humbled.  And if you know me, you know that is RARE!  If any ladies out there would like to join me in the gym, I’ve got free guest passes!  Just give me a shout and I can hook you up…I would love a workout buddy!

I am seeing changes in my stamina and in my body, and that is really encouraging.  My brother-in-law and my step-dad even noticed!  That feels really good.

I am happy to report that I have been able to stay under the 330 mark and am now the proud owner (and user) of the Wii balance board.  I’m still looking for suggestions for the under 300 reward…  any takers?

A Hue Less Blue

I’m feeling a little bit blue today.

I don’t like it when I feel this way.

No real reason…my life is so good.

But nevertheless, I’m wanting to brood.

I’m thinking ’bout things I wish I had.

And that’s a good recipe for feeling bad.

need to swap out the bitter for something that’s sweet

to change up the gall and conjure a treat.

There’s no use stirring up sadness and strife

When God‘s given me such a beautiful life.

So, rather than focus of things I have not

I’ll concentrate on them that I’ve got.

A loving family and friends galore

a calling to serve and oh, there’s more…

the smell of the ocean, the breeze on my face

the freedom to worship, and God’s loving grace.

A place to call home, in a town that I love

the sunshine, the rain and stars up above.

The way that things smell, the Father’s sweet Love.

A hope for the future…the laughter I’m full of.

And just like that, I’m blue no longer

My feelings of gratitude suddenly stronger

So color me with a hue more contrary

I’m sooo not blue…more like CANARY.
