Wow! I have been a bad blogger! *Bad blogger* I haven’t written a post since August of last year. So much has changed since then. After much prayer and deliberation, I decided to leave my job at Family First in Tampa to go back into the classroom. I have been teaching German at Central High School in Brooksville, Florida as a long-term substitute since August 24th. I applied to Asbury Seminary in the hopes of pursuing a Masters of Divinity, but have deferred that application while I wait to be hired full-time.
While I really miss working with all the great people at Family First, I have to say that I absolutely love being back in the classroom. I love working so close to home…my commute went from over an hour to less than 15 minutes! And most of all, I love that I’m able to spend so much more time with my niece and nephew.
I’ve continued to work on my weight-loss and I am currently at 306 pounds…about 75 pounds down from my highest weight. I haven’t been as dedicated as I should or could have been, but I continue to make positive progress. In fact, I have been in communication with the casting producers from The Biggest Loser and Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition regarding the next seasons of both shows. I’m also joining a “competition” here locally in Hernando County with a couple of girlfriends. On top of that, another girlfriend and I are walking together twice a week at one of our local walking parks. I’m highly motivated and committed to making all the changes I need to in order to reach my ultimate goal of 120-135 pounds and being the most fit of my life.
So, I am sorry for being gone so long. I won’t make any promises I can’t keep, but I will say that it won’t be so long between my next post. Also, if you’ve been following my Weight Loss Wednesdays, I’ll be back in the swing next week.
Welcome back to the newest Weight Loss Wednesday! And guess what?? I’m getting the hang of this whole video/editing/uploading thing…FINALLY! So this is actually going to go live on Wednesday! Aren’t you proud? I know you are. I’m proud of myself.
Well, my friends – I’m getting ready to start the audition process again for Biggest Loser’s Season 13. Open casting calls start this weekend and I am totally PSYCHED! I’ve hit a bit of a plateau…well, not really a plateau, more like a really slightly sloping hill. I’m still losing, but it’s slower than I would like. But I’m about to kick it in the booty by starting the reboot entry program again which consists of juicing, vegetables and fruits. That really seems to work for me…and the best part? I really like the taste of the food. I don’t feel deprived and I feel so good as far as my health is concerned.
I’ll be heading to the Hard Rock Atlanta on August 6th for my first open casting call. My sister, Kimberly and I are going together. We will have a great time in line and get to meet lots of other people who are looking to get healthy, too. These events are always a lot of fun. It’s a unique opportunity to make new friends while having a great time. You don’t know a good time until you hang out with a group of people like that. A couple of weeks later, I’ll be doing it all over again in Orlando.
Let me just take a minute to thank you all for being so positive and supportive of me through all of this. I have to say that I have not had a SINGLE negative comment or snide remark since I started with the audition video for Season 12. If you have ever seen any other videos on YouTube, you will know that people are cruel with their commentary. I am genuinely amazed that I haven’t had to deal with any of that. What a blessing.

By the time this is all edited and uploaded, Weight Loss Wednesday will be Thursday, but I thought I would take you on a brief tour of some of my workout activities as I continue to whittle my frame into submission. I filmed this at Shapes Fitness of South Tampa using my HTC Evo, and edited the final product with Windows Movie Maker. I’ve been on the elliptical a few more times since I recorded this session. My legs feel like jelly when I get done, but it feels pretty good to know that my muscles are responding to the
torture exercise. Who would have thought that exercise could be so much fun?? Certainly not me! But I am really liking my time in the gym. I might just become a gymaholic! I wonder if there’s a 12-step program for that?
I am really encouraged by all the support and comments that I have been getting here and on Facebook. I have always wanted to inspire people, but I would have NEVER thought that I could inspire others to work out! Thank you for telling me that my efforts to be a better, healthier person are making a difference for you, too! I am humbled. And if you know me, you know that is RARE! If any ladies out there would like to join me in the gym, I’ve got free guest passes! Just give me a shout and I can hook you up…I would love a workout buddy!
I am seeing changes in my stamina and in my body, and that is really encouraging. My brother-in-law and my step-dad even noticed! That feels really good.
I am happy to report that I have been able to stay under the 330 mark and am now the proud owner (and user) of the Wii balance board. I’m still looking for suggestions for the under 300 reward… any takers?
A week of great triumphs in ministry, but some struggles with my food and activity choices. It’s an opportunity to learn for me, and to grow. Thank you for sharing my journey to health and wellness!
